Science Week
This week we celebrated Science Week in the school with a range of activities hosted by the Science Department, including daily riddles and guess-the-scientist competitions. All First year students were treated to a visit by the Reptile Zoo on Monday, and First and Second year Science quizzes took place during class-time throughout the week. An Agricultural Science talk took place on Wednesday followed by the Senior Science ISTA quiz in Gorey on Thursday. All students were invited to attend a Science movie on Friday.
Students were invited to compete in a poster competition with the theme of Sustainability and Fast Fashion and we look forward to announcing the winners soon. Well done to everyone who took part!
TY Trip to the Zoo
On Friday, 8 November, 111 TY students headed off to Dublin Zoo. The students took part in an Evolution and Conservation workshop and also had some leisure time to walk around the zoo and see the animals on display. We were very lucky to see the wolves. The zookeeper told us that it was feeding day and that was why they were so active. The students found the workshops very informative. The evolution workshop was the highlight culminating in a visit to the Reptile House where the students had to go through the exhibit (based on Darwin and evolution) and find the answers for a question sheet. It was a very informative day and the students enjoyed themselves greatly
Jabba Jabba Jembe Workshop
Dave and Godfred held a two-hour workshop with the TY students on Monday, 11 November. Each group had the opportunity to take part in Jabba Jabba Jembe drumming and dance. It was a high energy interactive drumming and dance workshop. The students were quick to learn and really got involved. The remainder of TY students will get the opportunity to take part in this workshop next Monday.
Gaelic Football
CCM hosted Arklow CBS in their first competitive match in their CCM GAA career. After a few minutes of establishing the flow of this game, CCM took control and started putting scores on the board. Some great defending and fluid transitioning of the ball lead to fine scores being taken. It was clear that CCM was the dominant team which allowed 26 players get some game time. Although Arklow scored three goals in the second half, CCM had an unassailable lead and the game finished on a score line of 4-8 to 3-0. The dressing room chants would suggest that this is a confident and happy group of players.
