Day 2: On Tuesday, the students had a full day of activities in their groups. Some students overcame their fear of heights and took part in abseiling, an aerial trek, orienteering, archery and team tasks which involved students working as a team and planning to complete the tasks. In the evening, students took part in a quiz.

The Delphi trip is a new addition to the TY Programme and has proven to be a positive addition to the calendar. Sincere appreciation to the TY coordinator and the teachers who accompanied the students who were, as always, a credit to the school.

'Wrapparound'

A number of our First and Second year students participated in the national 'Wrapparound' showcase creative writing event in Trinity College, Dublin, on Tuesday, 30 April. 'Wrapparound is an annual creative writing event where students from schools all over the country write their own poem or rap song and perform it on stage in front of a large audience.

Our students all acquitted themselves on stage at the event and performed their poems with great confidence.

We then continued up the A1 to the W5 Science museum. Here students had free time to wander through the Science museum and to investigate the interactive displays. They also had allocated time on the Climbit Frame which proved to be a great hit.

Overall, this proved to be a highly enjoyable day and well done to the students for engaging so well in all the activities.

Junior Football Final

CCM 3-10 Coláiste Bhríde Carnew 3-14

CCM Junior Boys GAA team narrowly lost out in the Wicklow A championship county final in Aughrim County Grounds on Wednesday, 1st May. With both teams coming second in their respective groups and beating the opposing first places to reach the final, it was due to be a tight affair between the teams. Trailing 5 points to 2 with frees from Max Free halfway through the first half, a well-worked goal from the ever-impressive NJ Sinnott brought CCM level and back into the game after a slow start, and further points from Sean O'Brien, Rhys Behan and Max left the score tied at 1-5 to 8 points at half time.

Another slow start to the second half left CCM trailing by 7 points at one stage and it could have been more if it not for heroic goal stopping saves from wing back Sam Behan and goalkeeper John Lynch, giving CCM spirit to claw themselves back into the game. Points from Max, Jack Gill, Harry Butler and goals from Jack Healy and Cillian Czwalina brought CCM to within a goal of Carnew’s lead but an excellent last-ditch save from the Carnew goalkeeper stopping a definite Sean O'Brien equalising goal.

Alas it was not to be CCM's day. A great performance but a disappointing result for this impressive group of players who fought until the very end. They will have other days!
