Hospice Coffee Morning
On Tuesday last, 18 March, CCM held a coffee morning for staff and a coffee evening for Sixth year parents in aid of Wicklow Hospice, our charity partners for this academic year. We received an amazing response from both staff and parents and together we raised €702 towards our overall fundraising campaign. Many thanks to our TY students who led this event and to all staff and parents for their contributions on the day.

Our big Easter Raffle and CCM Fun Run are approaching….with some fantastic prizes... so watch this space!
Thanks again to everyone for your ongoing support for this fantastic charity.

UCD CuriosiTY Programme
(A report by TY student, Ava Macaulay)
Our week in The Conway Institute in UCD was really interesting and lots of fun. Throughout the week, we were introduced to many different researchers and their areas of science. We attended lectures and talks, for example we had a lecture on Mum and Baby health and Epigenetics. We also worked in the laboratories and did experiments using micropipettes, extracting DNA and matching DNA samples. We took part in activities and experiments with each of the researchers and their work. The Fly labs were particularly interesting! Here modified fruit flies are part of research projects on genetics and the nervous system. We also were taken on a tour of the University campus.
Overall, this was a very exciting experience! It was great to meet new people as well as getting a glimpse of the work in University laboratories and College life.
At the conclusion of the programme, the CuriosiTY coordinator described the four participating CCM students as “a wonderful group, well engaged and enthusiastic and a credit to your school.”

Visit from Garda Niall Kennedy
Thank you to Garda Niall Kennedy who visited the school on Wednesday and Thursday to chat to senior classes around issues including Coco's Law, money muling and substance misuse. As always, Garda Niall dealt with these issues with sensitivity and the students engaged with the topics maturely and respectfully.
Minor Girls Cup Match
Our Minor Girls’ team took on St Mary's, Arklow, in the quarter finals of the cup on Tuesday, 18 March. St. Mary's started off strong in the first half with CCM on the defence. St. Mary's broke the dead lock early in the first half. CCM continued to be on the defence with great displays of determination and passion by Inna Kelly and Megan Forsyth in the back line.
As the team headed into the second half, Robyn Loughran slotted the ball home to put CCM on the scoreboard, assisted by Isla Hindle. Robyn was also denied later in the second half by the crossbar. Unfortunately, CCM lost out to a stronger St. Mary's side on the day.
Well done to our girls for a good season this year.

Senior Girls GAA
On Wednesday, 19 March, the Senior Girls’ GAA team travelled to Dunleer in Louth to take on Scoil Uí Mhuirí in the Leinster Senior Girls E Semi Finals. The girls started off the first half well with a fantastic goal from Brooke Byrne. CCM drew further ahead with two excellent points from our half forward line. Dunleer went on the offensive, playing a sweeper but thanks to some excellent defending from our full back line of Holly Doyle, Layla Whelan and Ellie Massey, and some excellent saves from Robyn Loughran in goal, they were only able to add a few points and a goal. The girls went into half time ahead by 6 points after a goal from Millie Phelan and points from Kayla Renwick, Freya Renwick and Annabell Killeen.
Dunleer started the second half strong with a goal and 2 points in quick succession. CCM responded with a adding another two to their tally of points. Dunleer recovered quickly with a goal and took the lead five minutes later with a penalty. Despite another goal from Brooke Byrne and a point from Millie Phelan, Dunleer came out winners by 2 points. Congratulations to all the team on reaching the semi- finals, they have played some fantastic football this year. A special shout out to Caitlin Power who played and captained her final game in a CCM jersey after being part of the Girls GAA team for the last six years.
Junior U17 Girls
After successfully qualifying through the league stage our U17 Junior Girls soccer team faced Woodbrook College away in the knockout stages. Unfortunately, the team was missing several key starters from the group stages and Woodbrook took full advantage to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. CCM battled hard and came out fast in the second half with Carly McDonald scoring an early goal to make it 3-1.
In the end however, Woodbrook were more clinical on the day and ended up advancing to the next round. A special mention to some of our U15 team who stepped up to gain some valuable experience that will stand to them next year, with eight of our girls from that team playing, including Carly, who scored a wonderful goal.

First Year Hurling
CCM: 8-7 - St.Kevin’s Dunalvin: 6-4
First Year Hurlers enjoyed a hard fought win over St. Kevin’s, Dunlavin. In a very closely contested match, goals were crucial. CCM led from the start and were ahead by a goal and a point at half time. But Dunlavin came back strongly to level the match at 5-4 each. MJ Conway was outstanding in defence, while Simon Lynch and Diarmuid Stone worked hard in midfield. Samuel Connors scored 2-2 at corner forward, and Jamie Noctor and Simon Lynch added goals to give CCM the win and a great team performance from all the players.
