“To promote the personal, social, educational and vocational development of pupils and to prepare them for their role as autonomous, participative, and responsible members of society.”
In Coláiste Chill Mhantáin the Transition Year Programme is optional after completing their Junior Certificate Examination. The TY Programme in Coláiste Chill Mhantáin has been designed to act as a bridge between Junior and Senior Cycle. It offers educational experiences where the emphasis will be on the personal, social, and vocational development of each individual student, with a view to the attainment of increased maturity. Our programme also aims to enhance our students’ critical thinking ability, to develop self- directed learning to promote maturity and allow the students the opportunity to engage in a variety of community and business initiatives. The TY Programme prepares our students for the many academic challenges that the Leaving Certificate Programme demands. It will enable the students to take greater responsibility for their own learning and decision making. The students will participate in learning strategies which are active and experimental and which will help them to develop a range of transferable critical thinking and creative problem solving skills. It provides the students to broaden their educational experiences beyond the classroom.
