Coláiste Chill Mhantáin Student Council represents the voice of the student body. This Council is a formal arena for students to become involved in effective planning, to be given the responsibility of being partners with staff and parents and to be listened to. It creates opportunities for the development of leadership, responsibility and improved communication between staff and students. It ultimately develops as sense of ownership and belonging.A committee of representatives (students elected from 1st-6th year) meet weekly with a deputy principal and supporting teacher to address the issues their individual classes have suggested need attention, and, contrary to popular belief, we not only deal with concerns students express about existing aspects of the school, but we also encourage students to innovate and put forward new ideas and creative solutions to improve daily school life. After each meeting, the student council representatives meet with Mr Donoghue to discuss the topics raised by student council. Their responses are communicated back to the committee during the subsequent follow up meeting. Student council has grown strength by strength in recent years, and we hope this year will be no exception in ensuring the student voice makes a real difference for the better.
