Welcome Back

A very warm welcome back to all staff and students after the Christmas break. We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy New Year and we look forward to a busy, exciting and successful term. We wish all of our Junior and Leaving Certificate students every success in their Mock Examinations, which are fast approaching, and we wish all Second and Third year students well in their upcoming Classroom Based Assessments in various subjects.

First Year (2025) Information Evening and Assessment Morning

Thank you to Mr Donoghue and Ms Smith, who coordinated and hosted the First Year Information Evening and to Ms Ivers, Year Head, and Mr Mackey, AEN Coordinator, who also presented to the students and their parents on the night.

The Assessment Morning for incoming First year students (2025) will take place on Saturday morning, 25 January, in the school.

Guest Speaker: Rory O’Connor

On Wednesday, 8 January, we welcomed Rory O’Connor, author of Rory’s Story and Instagram star, to the school. Rory delivered a highly engaging and interesting talk to TY students in the morning and then to staff in the afternoon. Rory is passionate about helping young people achieve their potential. He often struggled in school as he felt he wasn’t “book-smart” and often became distracted and labelled as a “messer” which can really affect a young person’s confidence Rory talked about the different types of intelligence and the importance of knowing your self-worth. He talked about taking risks, seeing opportunities and above all being happy and content with who you are.

Theatre Trip - Peter Pan

Sixteen second year JCSP students attended a morning showing of the Gaiety Theatre's latest Panto, Peter Pan, in Dublin on Thursday, 9 January. Despite the icy road conditions, the bus managed to get the group to the show with a few minutes to spare! The students really enjoyed this great production and attended the event along with a number of other schools. Afterwards, the students stopped off for some fast food on the way home.

Art Exhibition

5 Eske successful hosted their art exhibition on Wednesday 15 January. It was carried out as part of their General Education task. Students researched and painted a range of well-known paintings showing a variety of techniques and skills. It was great to see so many staff and students come to see the work and speak to the students about their paintings. Well done to all the students on their hard work in organising such a successful morning.

Father Godfrey Cup: Round 1

CCM's first outing in the Father Godfrey Cup ended in defeat to Mullingar CBS after a close fought game between two well-matched teams at Clontarf RFC on Tuesday, 7 January.

A good team performance that fell short but the lads learned a lot as they prepare for the Duff Cup semi-final vs Newpark Comprehensive in a couple of weeks’ time.

Junior Girls GAA Wicklow A

On Monday, 13 January, our Junior Girls GAA team played an exceptionally strong Coláiste Bhríde, Carnew team in our second Wicklow A League match. Carnew took the lead with some impressive scores and kept our back lines under pressure. CCM upped their game in the second half with some great football from our half backs and midfielders but, unfortunately, the impressive Carnew team emerged as the winners.

Junior U17 Girls Soccer

Our Junior girls team faced Avondale in their first league match on Tuesday, 14 January. They put on a wonderful display scoring some great goals and many of the girls played their first ever soccer match. CCM won the game 5-4 with goals from Kirsten Hart x3, Isla Hindle and Brooke Byrne. They will play St Mary's in their next game in the league next Tuesday. Well done to all the girls with some particularly impressive displays on their debuts from Kelly Kavanagh in defence and Reece Hughes in midfield while Isla, Brooke and Kirsten showed their class as always with some fantastic goals.

Senior Girls’ GAA

On Friday, the Senior Girls’ GAA team competed in the Leinster quarter-final against St Farnan's Post Primary from Kildare. The girls started off strong, with Brooke Byrne getting some fantastic scores. Millie Phelan, Emily Carey, Reece Hughes, Annabelle Killeen and Kayla Renwick added some brilliant scores throughout the game. The girls worked well as a team for these scores, with the backline defending well to overturn the ball. Robyn Loughran had a brilliant game in goals and made some great saves. Annabelle Killeen and Kayla Renwick played a huge role in the middle of the field. The girls are now through to the semi-finals. Well done girls!
