We hope you all enjoy St. Patrick's Day this long weekend and we will see you all on our return to school on Tuesday, 18 March 🍀🍀🍀
Seachtain na Gaeilge
Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge linn an tseachtain seo! To celebrate, the Irish department were happy to host a daily ‘Nath an Lae’ competition for Seniors and Juniors, a poster competition, classroom quiz, tin-whistle workshop and a lunch completely as Gaeilge. Everyone was encouraged to participate and there were plenty of prizes to be won 🍀

TY Trip to Ger Carey
On Thursday, 6 March, all Transition Year students travelled up to Liberty Hall theatre to watch Ger Carey’s comedy show. In his show, Ger talks about the problems faced by teenagers and uses comedy to get important messages across regarding mental health. It was a really enjoyable show. The students were very well-behaved and enjoyed the day.

TY Trip to Causey Farm
On Monday, 10 March all TY students travelled to Causey Farm in Meath for a day full of activities. They made brown bread, took part in céilí dancing and visited the many animals around the farm including pigs, alpacas, deer, puppies and sheep. One group even helped to deliver a baby lamb! And finally, the day finished with bog jumping.
A great day was had by all and the students were commended by Causey farm staff for their teamwork and conduct throughout the day.

'InstaTours' Dublin Sightseeing Tour
On Thursday, 13 March, TY5 went on the 'InstaTours' Dublin Sightseeing Tour. Led by Ana, a professional photographer, the students visited some of the city’s most Instagram-worthy locations, including Temple Bar and St. Stephen's Green. Along the way, they learned valuable photography techniques, experimenting with different angles, reflections, and poses.
The group then continued to the National Gallery of Ireland, where they enjoyed a guided tour of the collection, exploring works by Monet, Renoir, and Yeats. Both tours were a great way to wrap up the photography module.

CCM First Year Boys’ GAA Football
CCM played St. Kevin's in the Wicklow Semi-Final in Ballinakill on Wednesday, 12 March.
Our boys made a sluggish start to the game and weren't competing for second balls which required a battling attitude in a blustery Ballinakill. This resulted in St. Kevin's taking control of the game in midfield and the scoreboard. The halftime score was 4-5 to 3-2 in favour of St. Kevin's.
CCM came out into the second half and showed great resilience which has been the measure of this team all year. Sustained pressure was not put onto the score board in enough quantity to make St. Kevin's waver and they were able to counterattack to keep CCM at arm's reach. A captain's performance from Chris Delahunt was backed up with a fine display from Robbie Doyle and Kayden Connolly.
The game finished on a scoreline of 6-7 to 4-4. Well done to this team on their efforts this year.

First Year Girls’ GAA
Well done to our First Year Girls’ GAA team who played Dominican College Wicklow and Loreto Bray in the Wicklow First Year Girls’ GAA League.
In the first match against Dominican College Wicklow, our girls started well, getting a few scores on our opponents. At half time, DCW came back strong, taking the lead. After this scare, we refocused to win the match.
Following this victory, the girls went on to play Loreto Bray. CCM got off to an early lead and finished the first half with an impressive lead. Bray played very well in the second half but, again, CCM came out on top.
The girls played an impressive two games, they worked well as a team for their scores, with the backline defending well to overturn the ball. Well done to all the girls who participated with some particularly skilful displays from Kate Barcoe, Summer Fitzsimons and Layla Judge.
Ultimate Frisbee
On Thursday, 13 March, five teams travelled from CCM to the National Indoor Arena for the Leinster Junior Open Cup to face off against 18 other teams. While we had high hopes for the day, we only had one returning player from our first team last year. The first team started the day well, taking two wins and one loss to the eventual winners of the day. They then played a strong Hartstown side and were 3-all just before the buzzer. A very poor call benefitted Hartstown, who slotted in one last goal just as the timer went. This put us in a lower bracket, where we played two strong Fintan's sides losing to both on some very unlucky out-of-bounds calls. They took 8th for the day.

The other four teams were impressive, taking 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th on the day.

Across the five teams, we had really impressive performances from Luke Doyle, Arro Thomson, Elijah Rangitaawa, Aaron Byrne, Dylan Butler, Adam Armstrong, Chris Delahunt, Noah Cameron Doyle, Zach Hollingsworth, Simon Lynch and Hunter Hennessy.
